Layton Construction Breaks Ground on New Campus for Mountainland Applied Technology College
Layton Construction Company recently broke ground on a new campus for Mountainland Applied Technology College (MATC) in northern Utah County. The architect for the project is Salt Lake City-based HFS Architects.
Funding for the project comes almost entirely from President Obama's federal government stimulus package. The new 93,000-square-foot, $16.3 million campus will be located on 18 acres near Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. Layton expects to complete the project in December 2010.
Mountainland Applied Technology College was founded in 1989 and currently has campuses in Heber City, Orem, American Fork and Spanish Fork. The college offers a wide range of short- and long-term training certificates in a myriad of academic areas, including automotive technology, business technology, health care technology and information technology. The new location will have a focus on health care programs and will better serve students living in the northern part of Utah County and southern end of the Salt Lake Valley.
