The Layton Companies Receive CMiC Innovation Award

SANDY, Utah (Oct. 22, 2008) – The Layton Companies recently received first place in the 2008 CMiC Innovation Awards. CMiC is a recognized leader in providing software solutions for the architectural, engineering and construction industry. The Innovation Awards are presented to those companies that strive to use the CMiC software in innovative ways in order to improve productivity within their organization and, in so doing, demonstrate a substantial return on investment.

Layton was awarded the first place prize for the Concrete Scorecard, a graphical representation of the performance of its concrete projects. The innovation was based on a customized Production Report that displays the weekly, job-to-date and budget dollars for each phase code as well as a metric for production for each concrete project.

"In today's market, we understand that 'business as usual' is not going to secure success. CMiC is a competitive edge for us in the construction industry," said Craig Lawson, Director of Accounting for The Layton Companies. "Our innovation allowed our self-performed concrete managers to have a weekly trend analysis sent to them automatically in a graphical format so that inefficiencies or averages could immediately be identified and discussed with the client. This sort of analytics makes us more efficient and saves time, but the real success is in our ability to communicate issues with the client upfront so that we can preserve relationships and allow our clients to make informed decisions."

Layton received $10,000 as part of the award, which will be donated to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
