Layton Construction demolished and rebuilt the Bonneville Elementary School, the last in a series of replacement schools for the Salt Lake School District. The new school is a two-story building with the latest classroom technology and a unique interior design that reflects both the school’s history and its future.
This project had to be completed on an aggressive schedule, and it had to be completed in time for children to start school in the fall. To achieve the schedule, Layton pre-qualified subcontractors and preordered long lead items. The demolition of the existing building was completed in the first three weeks of the project.
The school is located within an older, established neighborhood with an active and vocal community, so ensuring positive neighbor relations was essential to the success of this project. In addition to the usual noise and debris considerations, Layton carefully controlled construction traffic through the neighborhood. As a gesture of good will, Layton also hosted a community barbeque for the project neighbors. |
