Layton teamed with JRCA Architects in this youth corrections facility design-build project in southern Utah. By including many innovative design features -- including a compact design that allows for faster response times, a layout conducive to future expansions and ground source heating and cooling systems that reduce utility costs -- the project team set the standard for future youth detention facilities throughout the state.
The building exterior consists of mainly steel and masonry. The arched entrance creates a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Secured areas are strategically placed to conceal them from the main road and the adjacent adult detention facility. With full-time supervision and project management, the facility was constructed with optimum proficiency and expertise. |
