Gilbert Hospital is an acute-care general hospital that opened its doors in 2006. Upon opening, the need for medical services in the area was in very high demand. The hospital hired Layton to construct their first expansion.

The new expansion added shell space for 16 inpatient rooms and emergency services. The hospital asked that the project be completed 4 weeks earlier than scheduled. Layton obliged and implemented an accelerated schedule that met the new deadline. Careful coordination was required with the Arizona Department of Health Services to ensure the hospital was complete and operable by the deadline.

With the success of this project and an excellent relationship among owner and architect, Layton has been awarded another expansion project at the Gilbert Hospital campus.
