The John A. Moran Eye Center, located at the University of Utah, is the largest eye care center between the Mississippi River and the West Coast and the heart of ophthalmic research and clinical and ophthalmic education in the Western United States.
The eye center features two multi-story towers connected on several levels by sky bridges. One tower is a clinic, used to diagnose and treat patients with eye disease. The other tower houses sensitive research and treatment equipment and is designed to minimize vibrations inside the building to protect sensitive equipment. Also included is a new laboratory, vivarium and a 200-stall, subgrade post-tensioned parking structure.
In order to meet the client’s expectations and very aggressive 26-month schedule, additional planning and tight sequencing of the trades during construction was used. |
