Sandy City’s public park is a recreational space completed in several phases. Chosen because of our concrete expertise, Layton constructed a park that includes a skate park, a pavilion, multiple ball fields, a scorekeeper building, several playgrounds and a parking lot.

The skate area has bowls and sloped sidewalls ranging from beginner level (3 ft deep) to more aggressive bowls (up to 6 ft deep) and is accessible to skaters, BMX bikers and in-line skaters. The corners and slopes of the area were constructed to hold up to many years of use and abuse. The slopes of the skate park were created with shotcrete, galvanized steel coping and angle embeds. Layton also took extra precautions to make all transitions and joints perfectly smooth.

The main building in the park, the pavilion, will be used as a meeting and reception hall for the public. A portion of this building includes two breezeways with picnic tables and restrooms. An emergency operation center (EOC) electrical system was also installed in the building, so that it could serve as a community resource in the event of a natural disaster.
