Layton contracted with a confidential client to build RV-1 and site infrastructure for the 150-acre campus. RV-1 is a four-story brick facade structure with glass to accentuate the views of both mountain ranges from the elevated site.
The facility has no fixed wall offices, as the owner’s corporate philosophy emphasizes open offices to increase the flexibility of employee movement and communication. The campus also contains an outdoor courtyard and a complete commissary with food service.
Because of the high-tech nature of the campus, the level of telecommunications and computer technology needed in the building is significant. Layton’s biggest challenge was the coordination of off-site work. Roads were expanded to accommodate the planned increases in traffic. Coordinating construction of the building as well as the underground infrastructure coming onto the site required significant attention to detail. Layton completed the project with a tight schedule of approximately 11 months. |
