Layton was selected by Safeway to provide construction services for their new grocery store in Grand Junction, Colo. This 57,000 ft2 store is located congruent to wet lands on two sides. The Layton team took extra measures to ensure the wetlands would have minimal disruption from the building process. Additional challenges included the high water table that required continuous pumping of ground water during the construction process. The building was constructed on caissons due to the soil conditions on the site.

Safeway required Layton to complete this facility in just 140 days. Layton took the time to meet with the owners, local officials and subcontractors to establish a working schedule that would meet this critical date.
