The George S. & Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts and Horne School of Music is the largest building on the Snow College Campus and in Ephraim. This performing arts center includes a 700-seat performance hall, a 500-seat theater, an experimental theater, a choral concert and rehearsal hall, 10 classrooms, individual rehearsal rooms, a scene shop and faculty offices.
The Performing Arts Center features a modern design, with high-end, durable finishes suitable for both daily college classes and evening opera performances. The building’s striking exterior is brick and glass and features aluminum shrouds and concrete benches within masonry walls. The lobby consists of overlapping translucent planes of Imago, a product by Knoll, Inc. When it was built, Snow College featured the largest installation of Imago in the world.
The Performing Arts Center needed to be open for classes in the fall of 2003 for Snow College to maintain its academic program. With only 16 months to construct a project originally scheduled for 20 months, Layton stepped up to the plate. Our team delivered an award-winning project that was completed on time and below budget, ultimately giving money back to the state. |
