The Gateway, once an old rail yard, is Utah's largest mixed-use project to date with over 2,000,000 sf of residential, retail, office, hotel and entertainment space. Because of the project’s magnitude, the client contracted with three general contractors for different portions of the facilities.
Layton built Block B and Area G. Block B consists of office towers, space for the Children’s Museum, a five story underground parking structure, retail space on both Rio Grande and the north side of the development and the development’s central plant.
In Area G, Layton constructed a steakhouse restaurant, a 150-ft clock tower, a dock area and retail space.
The project showcases a wide variety of construction expertise including steel framing, curtain wall glazing and GFRC finishing. Premium grade millwork and interior finishes enhance the retail facilities and restaurants.
Tenants opened stores and restaurants in time for the holiday shopping season and the Winter Olympics. |
